COMPETITION WINNER ANNOUNCED!

We are pleased to announce that University of Melbourne, Master of Agribusiness student, Timothy Smith has been chosen as the winner for the Soil, Big Data and Future of Agriculture Competition!

Congratulations Timothy!

The competition asked Australian residents under 30 to provide their vision for the future of agriculture in Australia in the form of a short written or video presentation.

For his entry, Tim provided a four minute video where he said that technological changes in agriculture meant that being closer to good wifi would soon become more important than being close to a transport hub. His ambitious vision included a prediction that by 2050 up to 20 per cent of the world’s food would be produced by 3D printers and that the Internet of Things would expand to more than 20 billion objects in the next five years.

Timothy will present his vision at the conclusion of the Soil, Big Data and Future of Agriculture Conference. He will also receive return flights to Canberra, accommodation, and $300 in prize money.

Thank you to all those who entered. We were impressed by the thoughts, insights and effort that went into all the entries
